Artist Statement
My art practice is in constant response to the natural world, especially the interaction between atmosphere, light, and the earth. The horizon demarcating earth and atmosphere occupy deep observations in my imagination. No matter the materials my work is a meditation on the chemistry of light, air and water and the combinations of sky and weather patterns. I have strong emotional connection to color. My color field landscapes are the heart of my art practice.
My watercolor practice is where my create most fluidly The element of chance that exists in the alchemy between paint, paper and water reminds me of sitting meditation, the more you try to control the experience the more difficult it becomes. My painting in oil on canvas are where I find the ability to relax into the work as the medium is extremely forgiving.
In the past 5 years I have been exploring imagery of both Migratory and Native Flora.
